[chair] [chair] [chair] man, I hate that.
I haven't had my car for even a month. I was on the highway doing 0km/hr (stopped) due a traffic jam. I mean it was bumper to bumper for about 15 km area.
and what do you know, some chinese guy is flying behind me with a 94 Buick (some old shit box) (aparently fell a sleep as he said behind the car cause he is working to jobs). the freaking guy hit me 3 times (bang, bang and bang) I think his foot got stock in there somehow, so hard that I hit the car infront me.
never mind, my car is really not looking good, I am so pissed off, dam'n I am getting more pissed off just talking about it.
Anyways,.
Here's the thing, you know guys how insurance companies are scamming people for everything. I will show them this time.
my back light were cracked a bit, and one of my fog lights is broken and here's the idea I have:
1- Brake the back light a little more and make look like it broke because of the accident.
2- break my fog lights and get new ones ( make them somehow look like they broke when I hit the car in front of me)
3-not sure, but may even bend the stock muffler and get a high performance one (I think they're not much more expansive)
4- Screw you insurance companies.
ahhhhhhhh, now I feel better.

Scams are one of the main reasons insurance rates are so high! I don't like having to pay higher insurance rates so you can get your car fixed like new. Grow up!

I had the same type of thing happen to my Lincoln Mark VIII, but it was a full size van with no front bumper (just front frame horns). The guy punched 2 very large holes in my trunk and pushed me under a van that was stopped in front of me. I was at a dead stop in traffic because there was another accident in front of the van I was pushed into. People need to pay attention when they drive. BUT DO NOT SCAM THE (Edited by Big Daddy) DAMN INSURANCE COMPANY. IPQUICK WAS RIGHT WHEN HE SAID PEOPLE THAT DO DUMB SHIT LIKE YOU WANT TO DO FORCE INSURANCE PRICES SKY HIGH!

I agree, don't scam the insurance companies. I don't like them either, but what you do affects me too.

Besides, do you know how to "make" it look like it broke cuz of the accident?

Your comment urks the hec out of me. I'm just getting over an accident that was no fault of my own (someone rearranged the placement of my trunk) and I had such a hassle with the shop and insurance company that I paid some money outa my own pocket and had to deal with 3 months of UNNEEDED stress and aggrivation because there are those in this world that try to take advantage of a situation.

You honestly make me very upset. I cannot believe you are so candid and nonchalant about your attitude. I agree with everyone else about you needing to grow up; but I also think you need to think about your actions and how you judge a situation before you act. There is something definitely amiss with your thought process.

Good Luck with whatever you do.

For the most part I think people pay one way or the other, scamming simply adds the possibility of getting caught. When I hit a piece of metal on the highway with my other car, the claims adjuster came out to look at the car. It had a severely bent hub and two destroyed wheels. He added a leaking gas tank, air dam and some trim(all damage prior to the accident) that HE said was “probably” part of the accident. Most insurance companies want to pay as little as possible when the time comes to fix a person’s car, but people in general know what it’s like to be on the receiving end. You may get someone that understands that, but if you don’t, is getting caught for insurance fraud worth the risk?

guys, I agree with what you saying, I expected you guys to say these things and probably if I was in your shoes I would've said the same thing to myself.
I think all of you guys missed the point, here's the real question.
All of us already are paying more than what we need to becaus we driver BMW's (I think you agree) and I think all of us are getting screwed up by the insurance companies one way or the other (I think you agree with that too). so why is it so bad when you get a chance to do the same thing to these companies all of a sudden is wrong.
are you all palying God (you want turn the other cheek) give me abreak.
if any of you were in my position and had the chance to take back from these companies in a second you wouldn't hesitate. plus everybody's rate is going up next year anyway no matter what happens. plus what's wrong in trying to save myself a buck or two here and there....
I think you guys need to see the big picture, because eveybody is taking advantage of by these scammers everyday and everywhere.
it's all goooooooooooooooooooood and we all doooooooooooo it.

Please don't generalize all of us into one category.

Furthermore, regardless of whether or not "we as bmw drivers" get "screwed" does not give you the right to screw someone else.

Your line of argumentation/logic seems to suggest an eye for an eye philosophy; in which case I would like to quote Ghandi, "An eye for an eye does nothing more than make the whole world blind." WHatsmore, what makes you think the insurance company is ripping you off. I cannot substaniate my next comment, but I have noticed that people who drive BMW are a bit more aggressive than people who drive cheaper cars (this may be attributed to the fact that BMW handle much better).

You can rationalize your actions all you want, it still does not change the implications of your supposed actions.

Please don't misinterpret this as me "trying to start something," I just feel very strongly on this matter.

I wasn't going to break into this rout of a conversation, but since it turned religious...
are you all palying God (you want turn the other cheek)
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord ... Romans 12:19. I would have to say that I clearly know who is trying to "play God" in this situation.

It's not that I disagree with your frustration with insurance prices or an idiot driver that wrecked your car. I hate the price of insurance, this guy that hit you has very little sympothy from me. The idea of taking out your vengeance on the insurance company has me a bit perplexed, though. If you hate insurance companies so much, just buy the legal minimum insurance (enough to cover other people's property if an accident is your fault) and then cover the other stuff out of your own pocket. Insurance isn't too expensive if you do that.

Good luck with the repairs!

so, here's what happened. I decided not do anything crazy and take the car to a body shop. I made a deal with the manager, I told him I will not fix my car at your shop unless you do the followings:
1- Replace both my back lights (both were cracked/broken before the accident)
2-Replace my broken fog light (did not break in the accident)
3-paint both my bumpers (currently painted stock color_ugly gray for some reason)
4- paint both my side skirts( originally gray as well)
5-perform wheel alignment on the car when it's done.
guess what was the answer?? He said no probem at all, we will take care of you and your car, we will do anything you want.
so, whose the bad guy here, as I told you guys before, I really don't feel bad about that at all, I didn't break anything extra on the car and I am getting everything I want fixed.
Everybody is looking for their own good, everybody is bull shitttttttttttttt.............ing eveybody else, unfortunately and sadly, it's just what the world is these days.
thanks for the comments and feedback I got from you guys.

Nor mine either. Such a sad place Toronto must be. I thought that us Americans were supposed to be the cutthroat ones.

On a different note, I'm glad to hear that you're going to get everything fixed and get some improvements in while you're at it! Anytime something breaks or wears out on one of my cars, I always like to replace it with something better so that the breaking or wearing out in the end seems like it was a good thing. Now you can look back at the accident and say, "Boy, it was just the catalyst that I needed to paint those ugly skirts and bumpers."

How much extra are they charging you to do that other work for you?

I bet that you're right. However, whether you drive up insurance rates or send someone out of business really isn't the question. It's really a matter of character, which is probably more important. Regardless of what other people are doing, your decisions and your actions are going to determine your character.

The conversation thus far has seemed to revolve around the rationale behind either committing insurance fraud or not committing it. Everyone is doing it, right? Everyone is screwing everyone else over, right? Everyone is just looking out for their own good. Anyone in here would do the same thing in my position, right? Regardless of your perception of what you think that anyone in the forum would do or what everyone else would do, you know what ends up being right and wrong in the end.

When it all comes down to it, I don't believe that if you personally decided to defraud the insurance company it would ever affect me. However, I think that it is going to have a much greater effect on you. As I said, your decisions and your actions determine your character.

What you do is absolutely your choice, and I'm not going to pretend as if I've got everything figured out myself. I still screw up plenty and make bad decisions daily. I'm just commenting on your story.

Who is trying to talk a conscience into anyone “tough guy”? We’re just giving our opinions just as we were asked. Like I said, I think we all pay one way or another no matter what you do. Two wrongs don’t make a right (but three lefts do).
