So, I finally check under the battery cover of my 1997 328i, and find that my battery is in no box at all. Also, there appear to have been 1 or 2 rubber plugs that have been missing for who knows how long. Long story short, my trunk is extremly rusty, and is going in for some welding and metal work. After this is all done I'm going to junk the BMW battery and get a sealed battery. I've been considering Optima Yellow, or a Red top. I have some audio equipment, a 5-channel Alpline V-12 amp, and a 10" JL sub (no caps). Anyone have any suggestions for which battery to get? Or anyone had any similar problems?
Here's a pic of the rust. In places near where the negative terminal is shown there is crack that you can see the ground through, and you could almost punch through spots.
