Over the weekend I had the chance to drive my very first 328i.Holy Sh*t...I had no
idea that those extra 300cc would make such a difference compared to the 325i. I was wondering
what fuel system is used in the 1996 328i.

its allll about the torque, thats what you felt, and thats why the 2.8l motor was that much better despite its meager 1 horsepower gain.

What year was the 325 and 328? I agree that torque in the 2.8 is sooooo nice !
the 325 was a 95 and the 28 was a 96.
the 325 had minor aftermarket parts such as cat back and intake. What surprized me was
how much quicker the 328 felt even though it was completly stock. I probably would of
purchased the 328 but the salesman was a complete A$$hole. He tried to tell me that
the clutch did not slip even though I and my friend felt it. And then he tried to tell me
that it would only cost upwards of 300 bucks to replace...What a Salesman[hihi]

im starting to understand the series more but I do have a question. if you wanted to upgrade a 95 325i
to the point where it would keep up with a 96 328i how much would you have to spend.

The 325 that I drove already had a (real) cold air intake and a cat-back. If I were to purchase a chip
do you guys think that it would give the 2.5 enough of a torque increase that it could keep up with a 2.8?

I know this is kind of a stupid question, but any opinions would be appreciated.

i dont think so...there is a 20lb/ft difference..thats hard to do from a chip...conforti claims about that much withsoftware & intake
here is a dyno sheet from tms for stock,w/software,w/software & intake

I also have a 1997 328...

and I just love it. Has anyone Sharked it and added the cold air filter and live to tell how much HP they have gained for doing so?

I have a 328i and have enjoyed the handling and acceleration the past 2 years that i have owned it. That is why i have installed a supercharger and an aftercooler, with NOS as a 75 hp shot to add to the thrills. Before you write to ask how much hp, 411 without the NOS. 486 at the crank with the NOS. That's approx 450 hp at the rear wheels.

Upgrades: try Brembo's front and rear; SC and aftercooler; NOS; 18" rims with Kumho 225X40's; strut braces-front and rear; M3 rear wing; front corner splitters; Euro elipsoid lights with Daylight Demon Eye rings; clear front corner lenses with appropriate white star bulbs; clear side markers; now its time to shine................[driving2]

How can you put that kind of power to the ground with 225s?

Is there a reason you mentioned your supercharger twice, your aftercooler twice, and NOS four times in the same post?

Is your car still OBDII?

What kind of A/F ratios are you seeing, and how much boost are you running?

BTW, if you are making 486 at the crank, you will be losing a lot more than 10% in drivetrain loss. 450 at the wheels is too much for 486 at the crank. I have no idea how you are quoting such a precise number for crank hp and then estimating RWHP, instead of vice versa. Where do you go to get crank hp measurements?

Glad you asked. The 486 quote is base upon RMS claims that the Stage 1 w/stage 2 ( aftercooler) generates 411 hp at the crank and 30 hp less at the rear weels. I have a 75 hp needle from a 10lb NOS bottle mounted in my trunk with a remote solinoid that allows me to open the bottle for the NOS that has so far jumped the rpm 1500. With already achieved 0-60 times of 4 sec. doubters like yourselves will just have to spend the bucks to achieve the results.

A 30 hp. loss from 411 RWHP is a ridiculous claim. RMS' website does not make such a claim. The very fact that you would make such a statement pretty much eliminates all of your credibility.

Note that with 369 hp, they are claiming 310 at the wheels. That represents a 16% drivetrain loss. If you had 486 hp. at the crank, you could expect about 410 at the wheels.

The funny thing is, although you went to the RMS website and selected 328i, the information above actually applies to the M3, not the 328i, as you will see below.

Here is where it gets fun.

Remember when you said you had a 328i? The 369 crank hp. claim is for an S52 3.2 liter M3 engine with a Stage I RMS kit, not your M52 2.8 liter engine. RMS actually only claims 289 hp. with the Stage I kit on your 2.8 liter engine.

The claim of 411 RWHP is for the Stage II system as applied to an E36 M3 S52 3.2 liter engine, not the 2.8 that is in 'your' 328i.

http://www.racemarque.com/rms_bmw/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=4

If the Stage I 2.8 makes only 289 horsepower, versus the 369 horsepower that a Stage I 3.2 makes, do you think your 2.8 somehow made up that extra 80 horses when it made the jump to Stage II? Not possible, sorry. Thanks for playing.

If you keep searching the internet you should be able to find a few halfway decent responses to my other questions. You may be able to fool most people . . .

As for the bucks, if I wanted an E36 328i with an RMS Stage II system and NOS, there would be one sitting in my garage.

Why do people feel the need to lie about their cars on the internet?????

Just so this doesn't escalate more than it has to . . .

I don't know if you have this car or not. I do believe there are some serious questions about the things you have said, but that does not mean you don't have a 328i or have installed the Stage II kit and NOS. You may well have overstated the power it makes, but that does not mean you don't have it.

Honestly, I would be happy if you have exactly what you describe. It doesn't make my life any better if you don't. [:)]
