I am totally lost here, I have a 95 325i convertible and am trying to order new shocks and struts all around. First of all can anyone tell me the difference between touring, sport, and heavy duty Bilsteins. Second of all, I am planning on getting some 17' FM replicas #44 and low profile tires, and wondering how that will effect my suspension. Also, I saw some monroe shocks and struts and advance auto parts that were a lot cheaper, but was told not to go cheap on suspension. Any suggestions???

Check my reply in this thread for pricing: http://hotbimmer.net/forum/showthread.php?t=12103

Low profile tires and 17" wheels will reflect negatively on your behind - with a stiff suspension. If you just do track days - by all means, go for sports suspension setup. But for daily commuting, I'd advise you to save some $$$ and buy a touring suspension from Billstein (you can't go wrong for 290 bucks!). It's still stiffer than a factory setup, and handles very well for my taste.

I purchased HD Bilsteins for my 528. The ride was definitely stiffer, but I loved the ride. It cut down on the body roll. I called Shox.com before ordering and they were very helpful in picking the right set up.

$290? HOLY SHIT... sure they are legit bilsteins!?!?!!? That's the price of two REAR bilstein shocks, not a whole set!
Why don't you check shox.com before posting? From their site:

028. Bilstein Touring class shocks 6/1992 - 1998 Touring Class, set of 4. NOT FOR THE 318Ti. THESE ARE ON BACKORDER UNTIL 9/16/04. 289.00

I bought them myself, and happy with these. Unbeatable for the price. Tokico are also good:

039. Tokico shocks 6/1992 - 1998 Non-adjustable, set of 4 359.00

P.S.: No, I am not employed by shox.com [:D]
