Slave Cylinder

O.K. I did the clutch on my car (97 328is). Had a hard time, took it to the local tech; specialized in BMW. Anyway, shifting is difficult. Have to put good amount of pressure, as compared before the clutch was before, and I used an aftermarket slave. I know, I know, bad...bad..bad.

But the OEM and the After look the same and rods are the same length, etc. Is it possible that the After slave is not "up to spec." as the OEM? What I mean is can the OEM slave extend further than the After slave?

Well actually, since I ran into problems, I had my mech. take tranny back off, check everything as far as what I had done to erplace the clutch. He has bled the system several times since then and still hard to shift.

I have a feeling you installed the shift linkage wrong or something. If the slave cylinder wasn't releasing the entire way, you would undoubtedly know it.

Well no on that as the assembly for the Shifter is one way only and I took only the linkage off from under the stick so it was still attached to the tranny.

Oh well, maybe the new slave will help. Thanks for the input.

O.K. Put in new Slave and still hard to put into gear. Mech checked everything and all is by the numbers good. Think it is the tranny. Where is a good place to buy a junk tranny?
