First year in the Bimmer ('95 318 I) I am just using rear snow tires.
My last 2 cars liked to kick the rear out once in awhile ('97 Miata, '85 190E MB)
The BMW seems pretty good so far! Probably due to it's weight? I realise lenght/width of this car helps-but I'm sure weight helps! Seems like a pretty heavy car for it's size!
Any thoughts?

yeah, i've been on the snow for a month now and it handles well for a real wheel drive vehicle.

i'm not even going with snow tires and i've had no problems even though i live in a very hilly city.

We just got our first snow in Maine last weekend, 12" of it. This is my first snow with this car. Also the first time I've owned a rearwheel drive car. Handles very well with the new Goodyear snow tires. I replaced the 225/50/16's with 205/55/16's. The narrower tires seem to get through the snow really well. Traction control is fun to switch off and drift through the corners, also got a chance to do some real donuts. :)
