Ok so lately when I let my 528 idle for an extended period of time (>5 minutes) my temp guage will immediately shoot to the red. Now, aside from the temp gauge there are no other signs that my car is in trouble (no difference in engine idle or noises, no smoke, etc). My coolant level is also fine. As soon as I start to drive it will shoot back to normal and stay there.
Also, my outside temp. sensor has been signifigantly destroyed; could this be related to my problem? If so, good; that's easy to fix. If not, what's wrong with my car?
Any ideas oh wise BMW sages?
