I replaced my fuse for the stereo 15 mins. ago and i need help, it says it needs a code, and i'm not familar with one, is there a standard one, or did someone set it in there, and if they did is there any way to take it off?

Thanks,

check your owners packet, or pull the radio and the code is on the back. then you just enter the numbers using your pre-set radio #'s.

The code is not on the back, at least it shouldn't be. What kind of a theft prevention system would that be? Its actually more hassle for the owner and not the thief.

The code might be somewhere in the owners manual, if it is not or if you don't have the manual period, the only way to get the code is from the dealer. Some might charge you for it but others might not. I heard that if you call Bil Jacobs BMW of Chicago (not sure) and mention you are from this board they will give you the code for free. Just make sure you have proof of ownership and the VIN. Hope this helped.

you actually need the serial number from the stereo. you'll have to pull out the stereo and write down the serial number on the side and call the dealer with it. my mechanic had to do the same thing for my stereo.

Call your local dealer or stop for a visit with your reg/vin number and ask for the radio code. Once you receive your radio code the proper procedure are as follows.

1. The proper 5 digit code must then be entered (using the proper number radio push -button selectors) when the radio is on and the display shows "code".

2. If the correct code is not enter in the three successive tries, the radio will not accept entry until the radio has been left on for one hour.

3. IMPORTANT: When entering 5-digit code number, be sure to complete sequence number of that 5-digit code. For example: code No. sequence is 12345 and you mistakenly enter 125 instead of 123, continue the code number of 45 to complete that entry.

4. The radio will not operate and "CODE" will reappear in the display. Re-enter the correct number sequence of 12345 and operation of the radio will continue. The likelihood of guessing the correct code is extremely remote. The radio is , therfore, unsalable to a thief.

5. NOTE: if an audible beep is heard while entering the 5 digit code, STOP immediately! Begin entering the code again, starting with the first number of the 5-digit code.

GOOD LUCK
