My 1994 325Ic auto transmission has been acting wierd. In D, sometimes it will not upshift. It will go all the wayup to the redline if you let it. If you use 3, the car works fine. Sometimes, when slowing down and coming to a stop at a light the car lurches, like it is still in gear. Putting itin nuetral at that time and then back in D fixes it. I don't seem so see a pattern. Hot or cold, 35% of the time D won't shift, than 65% of the time it will. If you get up to 40 or so in 3 and shift into D it works fine. There are no noises.

I do have th A/M switch, but I never push it, and there are no lights on my dash when I do.

I dropped the pan and exchanged the fluid I could get to (4-5 bottles) about 6 months ago.

Any ideas? Dealer said if they find something wrong, they don't fix the tranny, its buy a new one for $3,500.

This may sound strange but....... check your battery terminal connections. if the neg can still be tightened, tighten it. You will then be certain that the tranny problems are not electrical in nature. Reason for this suggestion: my neg terminal was loose and the auto trans would not down shift into first, and i had static in the am radio stations, plus pulsating dash lights. Haven't had any trans problems since tightening the darn connection. Also, no more pulsating dash lights, nor static in the am stations.
Go figure. [rolleyes]
