Transmission Program

Whlie driving my 1994 740i, (Beautiful Car) the check engine light came on then a message on the announciator panel says "Transmission Program", soon after, the shift indicator light goes out. What could be the problem? I immedialely contacted the BMW dealer, who told me it's okay to drive but I should bring it in for servicing. Does anyone know what the problem is/was? [???1] After I turned the car off, all was normal again, but I know all is not well with her.... Please help!!!

I own a 93 525i with the same problem. It sounds like an electrical problem. You may want to check out this link to get an idea of what may be the problem. Scroll down to the bottom of that page and first read the section titled "ANOTHER WRITE-UP" which describes the problem.

I am writing to find out if anyone knows of my problem. While getting onto the freeway a couple of days ago, I floored it and almost immediatly after my 735i downshifted, it lost all power to the wheels. Does anyone have any ideas of where to start? Where is the diagnostics module located on a 1992?
