Has anyone installed UUC clutch arm bushings on their E36 to straighten the clutch pedal and eliminate the squeeking noises it makes when pushed? I bought some of them because my clutch arm squeeks like crazy, but when my mechanic and I tried to install them on my 1997 328is we could not get them to fit where the stock bushings went. I know they are made specifically for E36 BMWs so I don't know why they would not fit. Does anyone have any advice for installing these UUC clutch arm bushings because the squeeking that my clutch arm makes is driving me crazy. Thanks.

UUC Clutch arm bushings

Yes I have instaled UUC clutch arm bushings and the noise went away. The pedal also does not have side play anymore and its much smother. Well with instaling is a lil problem. It is very hard for the first time.

Did the mechanic actually removed the pedal or He couldn't do that first of all? If he removed the arm than the bushings should fit right in there and they supply the bushings with very thin metal washers, You dont have to use those and also its imposible to fit both of them there. You wont be able to put the arm clip back to its position if you instal both of those washers. you can only do one. On side of that everything else should fit exactly right. Even though the bushings are from a special teflon use little bit of special grease. the best is the Carbon grease.

Let me know in what stage of instaling did you had problem so I can look in to this closely and try to navigate you.[wave]

It took me about 3 hours to instal the bushing, so I know its not a walk thru the garden.

But the time is worth.

I hope you will get it even without my help.

UUC Clutch arm bushings

And also one thing.

The stock bushings have angle cut thru them, and the UUC are one piece so its little bit harder to actually push them in the place, but thats what eliminates the problem.

Hope you'll get it.

You can always email me at:[email protected]

this is me during the instalation>[?|]

Thanks a lot lifewithbmw. Knowing that your UUC bushings worked makes me feel a lot better about trying again. My mechanic probably did not fully remove the clutch pedal. Your directions sound very right. I remember him taking off the stock bushing and them having that slit in them. He tried to put the UUC bushings on and just said they don't fit cause they are aftermarket. I am convinced he just didn't try enough. I am wondering if I should just try and install them on my own. Thanks a lot for the advice. It is greatly appreciated. [:D]
