warning light in dash

it has a small circle with a couple dashes going up each side. can someone help me out i dont have an owners manual.. please help thanks

Sounds like your brake pads are wearing down, is it red????? There is a sensor on your pads that lets you know your pads are going to need to be changed soon.

How badly do they have too be worn out for the light to be on? I've never seen it and they have changed them many times.

Isn't there also one for check oil as well? That's another one I've never seen.
