the alternator might interfere with some wiring of the radio. that is in most cases the reason for sounds from the stereo.
did you recently change your radio or wiring?

no those 2 rings are the hourly alarm it rings 5 seconds before the hour
please read your manual
look at the OBC there should be an icon next to the hour

I think bahnstormer and VANCE are right. He/she probably talks about the memo feature or maybe, the speed feature is activated and when the car goes higher than that speed, the sound comes on, I don't know if they offered that on the 91 model. Look at the display as soon as you hear the sound again, that might help.
