Will an M3 Catalytic Converter fit on my 325i?

#1
I'm replacing the catalytic converter in my car and I figured I might as well get an M3 one. The 325i cat looks like it goes from the two header outlets into one pipe and then back to two but the M3 one has two seperate pipes the whole way which seems like it would have a little bit better performance. Also, would it be worth it to pick up an M3 exhaust to put on the car while i'm going to be taking it apart anyway? And does the M3 have different headers than the 325i, maybe I should get a set of those too...

Ok, thanks!

M3 cat is probably not any better than a stock 3 series, as far as the exhaust, unless you get a good deal, forget about it. High flow cats on stock cars do not give much HP....well, with headers and new heads.....they work well. Chop the stock exhaust off and get a nice Borla or universal fit....if the price is right. Cool thing about Borla is you can put plates to adjust the sound you like....just from my LS1 Camaro days....but I ran a wide open cutout then.[thumb]

I put M3 cats on my 325is. The exhaust flows the exact same way on the 325 and an M3. There's litterally no difference in the exhaust until the muffler. The muffler on an M3 has about 1/3 better flow than the 325 but it keeps things quiet. The only reason I put the M3 cats on was because I got a good deal on them.
