Hey Guys,

I think I have finally found a perfect BMW, but couple things would need fixed on it, and I would like to know if you know approx cost and/or what it could be.

1998 528i 125k

The right rear window isn't working. I think he said it was the actuator? Could be wrong. Repair cost? Something a dumbass like me could do?

Also, which he had to do some checking on because it just happened when he was bringing the car to me. The steering wheel would move up and down while driving and the radio/computer wouldn't turn on. He says it might be something w/ the ignition. Second test drive, everything worked perfect except for the wheel again. Any ideas?

Other that than, the wife and I LOVED the car. In almost perfect condition, and for $7k ($3k under KBB), can't go wrong!

Thanks,

Hoot

You can order a window regulator for around a $150. It's not a difficult job. This link is for an E38, but it almost the exact same job on an E39 (I've done it): http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/156676

When you say the steering wheel could move up and down - a lot or just bit - do you mean like it needs an alignment/balance or does the steering wheel feel loose?

Have no idea, except fuses on the radio/computer.

The Steptronic Steering wheel starts adjusting up and down on its own. Seems like about after 5-10mins of driving, it works just fine, and then the radio comes on. He checked the fuse, and that wasn't it.

on your window regulator, there are two nylon sliders that allow the regulator to function. You may get lucky as they are about 5$ for the two (required). The bottom of the regulator has two little ball things that hook into these that allow the track/regulaor to move and raise and lower the window..good luck
