Windows/Auto-door locks non-funtional

I have a 1993 BMW 325.
You never would have guessed if I didn't tell you, huh?

Anyway, a couple months ago, all four windows, the sunroof, the automatic door locks, and the lights that come on when the door is open stopped working.

I bought a Hayes book figuring I could pinpoint the problem to a fuse or a relay or some circuit which controls all of the funtions that went out.

Unfortunately the Hayes book isn't very useful to me either because they aren't very good at making it easy to read or I'm not good at reading it.

Has anyone here had this experience and can you point me in the right direction for a solution?

If you are experiencing all electrical problems, your circuit breaker under the steering column might be bad. I'm not exactly sure how to fix it, but it should be relatively easy to replace the switch

I kind of suspected that relay, as it looked like it was replaced before.

locking component failure

I have a 2000, 323I that has the same problem. The only difference is that my child got locked in the car with it running. The locks and windows would not work. My daughter was in her carseat and I had just shut the door to go around and get in myself. About half way around the car I heard the doors lock on their own.

I called the police, Fire dept, and numerous locksmith. No one can get into a BMW. After an hour of trying with a hanger to get in, I had to break the window.

I have 1,800.00 dollars damage to my car that my insurance company is covering. While at the body shop, the mechanic got locked in my car. Come to find out the EMT component that controls the locks and windows has failed. The part cost 237.00 plus labor. Bmw doesn't want to repair my car at there expense. I feel this is a very serious problem and people should be aware of the dangers. This could be your child.
