Hi,

I'm new to the list - I have a question about windshield trim pieces. Has any reader had problems with the front windshield trim strip lifting off at freeway (plus a little) speeds? We have a '93 750 and a '95 540 that have both had this problem. It looks like the plastic pieces that hold the windshield down to the seal and also hold the trim pieces have just rotted away. Anyone know of a good fix? It's pretty alarming when it lets loose at speed.

Thanks!

I had the same issue with my '95 525i. Took me some time to figure out what was making the noise at freeway speeds. I had the windshield replaced and they replaced the trim kit at the same time since the clips were broken. No more problems. I'm sure you could simply replace the trim if your windshield is good.

are we talking about the trim on the bottom? the plastic stuff with plastic clips? or the stuff all along the sides and top like simplifyguru said?

oh and be careful having the windshield replaced - often they use thinner glass
to save money and it'll be noiser, weaker, and more easily chipped

Hello
I have 530i, V-8, model 1995, automatic. I also had the same kind of vibration/sound coming from the plastic pices/ grill just under the front wind screen. Despite the fact all the plastic nails with the grill were in contact, even then at high speed it use to give sounds. So now i have given a drop of transparent glue from iinner part of the plastic grill tips. So no more sounds.
Better do the same as the sound is horrible.
