Ok, so just bought this car, trying to fix it up. Here's whats wrong:

Low beams don't work (changed bulbs too).
Passenger turn signal (front) only works when you put on your turn signal, not when the lights are just on.
Tail-lights are missing all the bulb-sockets.
radio displays "code"
temp. display does not work.
light on dash does not illuminate the gas gauge.
power mirror do not work.
Fog lights do not work (also no idea where the button to turn them on is)

just got the car a few days ago. its a 93 318i 5-speed.

Any help appreciated.

I can answer a few questions

One, the fog lights. The button is directly next to the headlights switch, to the right by about a quarter inch, cant miss it, push it in, and if they come on, it works! If not, maybe you need new bulbs, or fuses.

The Gas gauge, I'm guessing it needs new cluster bulbs behind the gas gauge, becasue if everything else on the gauge cluster is lighting up, but not the gas gauge, then its real simple, simply needs new bulbs installed, i've been told its best to goto the dealership to pick em up.

Oh yeah, and they should be able to provide you with tail light bulb sockets too.

As for the other electrical woes, check all the fuses, both under the dash, and under the hood, if you haven't yet, its a good chance some of the problems your having right now may be as simple as a blown fues.

Hope that helps, good luck with the car!

"CODE" on the radio means constant power from the radio was disconnected and it needs the unlock code (its a security thing), you can get the code by going to your dealership, they might want to charge you for it, if they do and you don't want to pay whatever they want to charge, try this: Pull out the radio and write down all the numbers on the back of it, serial numbers and such. Make a copy of your registration and driver license, call this dealership called: "Bill Jacobs BMW" in Chicago and they should give you the code for free. If they ask for proof, fax them the registration and license copies. Also, if they say something like, we charge for it or something, try getting out of it by mentioning this board and saying someone here told you its free of charge, thats how I got my code.

This is the only thing I am sure about, others could be a whole bunch of other possibilities.
