Write up for draining radiator??

Anyone know of a write up or instructions on how to PROPERLY AND SAFELY drain a radiator on a 1996 328i?

I need to do mine badly...espcially before winter.

Here are some instructions from a Bently e-book I have. It doesn't mention how best to FLUSH the system. I do believe you can just use a garden hose, but not sure if any amount of tap water is okay.
