Replacement ECU 318i Convertable

I am looking for a new / used ECU matching with numbers 0261203357. The dealership wants $1,100 plus at least $150 more to program. They will ONLY reprogram a computer that is bought at their dealership. Does anyone know anything about changing the ECU in a 318i Convertable? Can I find one on ebay and install? Will it have to be reprogrammed? By Dealership? Any other advise is welcome.

I had to change mine a few years ago and took it to a mechanic shop ...they bought a used one for $750 i think and they ve installed .I don t think that is something that you want to do yourself ... but if you know what you are doing .....What happend with it ? Water ????

You should be able to find one on E bay. I bought one for my 98 323 for 200.00 and yes dealer will have to install and program it. Should be around 150.00.
