on a cold am start the rpm should be above 1k. normal warm idle should be just under 1k. could be the idle setting and/ or fuel pump. maybe not enough fuel is getting to the engine and it's conking out.

sounds like an electrical socket or relay problem. a competent auto repair place should be able to troubleshoot and figure out where it's tripping and fix it.

u sure it isn't burned out ignition coils? that will also result in no power + high RPM when u floor the gas pedal.

u can also use the lightest stickiness blue painters tape to mask out the black plastic areas before applying wax. i'm usually too lazy to do that myself tho..
