Ok I have an update on this, I recently took my car in again for a software upgrade and everything seems to be fine this morning. Looks like it's definitely software related.

I have the same problem except I do not stall, it is just rough idling for about 20 sec after the first start for the day. My car is going in for inspection this month so I will see if they software upgrade that Tom is referring too fixes mine also.

Well my dealer said nothing was wrong and didn't find any error codes. THey kept it overnight and said it fired right up for them in the morning. Damn! On the bright side, I got an X3 3.0 loaner for two days... that is a blast to drive!

How was the ride in the X3, handling, bumps?? Was it faster/did it feel faster than the 325i?

The X3 provides a much stiffer ride than the 325 does (no sport package). With the extra power of the 3.0L I know it could easily outrun a 325. Would I trade a 325 for an X3? maybe... the interior of the X3 was cheap and nasty (it was pretty much a bare-bones X3) - the 325 w/ premium package & leather is MUCH nicer (and cost less). To get an X3 at the same level of trim is just too much $$$ IMO. It sure did put a smile on my face, though...

That's what I thought at the showroom the interior seemed too cheap and I wasn't crazy about the styling. I just wondered if it had a softer ride or better ride over potholes etc... and what your opinion on it's performance was...

Ofcourse it put a smile on your face, who wouldn't wanna drive a quicker NEW BMW for a few days... little variation never hurts.[thumb]

Damn! Do you still have the paperwork? Does it say what version or TSB was used? I have a feeling my dealer didn't really look into it since it didn't stall for them...

I have the paperwork in my car..... It lists what was updated, but I do not think it lists a TSB, Also the tech said that my car was not included on the orig TSB, but he called in and they said to install it.... I will list the info from the worksheet tonight.

dzervit,

All my paperwork says is that they "Reprogrammed the DME"

Hope this helps.... Just as a reminder, my car was not stalling it had just a real rough idle for first start of the day.

i was just gonna start a thread, but thanks to good ole search, found this ^^v
hey dzervit, since yer in the area, what dealership do you goto? i'm not a big fan of erhard..

anyway, here's my issue, seems in line w/ other issues, but here you go, i do have the zhp: in the past few months, i've ran into the rough idle issues on my car. my one year just went up, so i'll be taking it to the dealership, but thought i'd ask first..

it's noticible during cold start. it'll start the idle around 1100 or so, but it'll bounce around. on a bad day it'll bounce upto 1500 or so, before settling back down. and it'll keep bouncing until it hits aroudn 6-700 about 15 secs into warm up. at which point, i just pull in reverse and head out the door.

it just maybe a 03 i-6 thing eh?
