what made you decide to get the 235/45 vs the 235/40? also did you get a wheel alignment since you upgraded your wheels? i just installed 17"x8.5 hamann hm3's for my car and i was told that i would need a new 4-wheel alignment.
You mean 225/45 vs 235/40 (if the question is to me, that is)? Well the 225 has a little less overall diameter that my stock wheels, and 235 would have a little more. As these wheels added some weight (a few pounds per wheel), I decided to sacrifice on top speed a bit and ease the load on the engine. Maybe it's not THAT much of a load with slightly larger diameter wheels, I donnow for sure (anyone good in physics here gimme an estimate

). Also, for heavy wheels AND wide tires, my steering pump might get busted sooner than later (I have over 120k on the car).
And yeah, you need to run a new alignment. Car was a bit unsteady before I did that. Also, am considering replacing front ball joints with metallic mount ones, like on M3s. Does anyone know what it takes timewise, and if it's a hard DIY job, or a shop one?
