1997 328iS

I have a question.... I have a 97 328iS.... and a buddy of mine is looking at what he was told is a white 1997 328iS w/dove leather interior.... i havnt seen the car yet.. but he told me the car is on 15 inch wheels... and i thought that all of the 1997 328iS models came with the 16 inch split 5 star wheels..... the car has no CD player, just AM/FM and a tape deck. No sun roof either. I am going to look at the car tomorow, and i am driving my car there, so we can get a side by side comparasent.... But, if there is anything else that i can look at to tell if the car is a 1997 328iS let me know.... Preciate it!

ahhhh, that sounds a bit shadey to me. I'm can not recall the various packages, but i was almost positive that the 328iS's came with the wheel you mention, i know mine has them. sunroof as i recall was optional. cd player was most likely optional, but consider it rare to have only a tape deck.

let me rethink this once i unwind from work..... but definately bring yours and definately thoroughly inspect it.

Bmw had a package "the sports package" that included 16inch wheels. rather than 15" wheels. Atleast that is what came on my 96 328is. As for the sunroof, that seems odd. The only Bmw's i have seen w/out one is a 318. Hope this helps. Ask the guy for all the books and records. And check the Vin #

i had a tape/am/fm stereo when i first got my car. i also didnt have the OE wheels, i recently bought wheels from a 325. best thing for you to do is get the vin and check it out.

IS package looks just like Frolf's car and rims, should not be 15 inch unless they were traded out. Should be able to do a vin check or carfax. My 328ic came with a casette and CD changer. Just some info for you.

Well, he bought the car..... and when i went and looked at it with him, i noticed a few things..... first off.... wood grain in the pasenger dash...... didnt have the same seats as mine..... and listen to this...... on the left side of the interior, front and back, it had the "molded leather" like my car, where its like real right to the contours of the paneling, where as on the pasenger side, front and back... its like stiched leather... kinda fluffy, deffinatley not what is in my car. But, he ran the vin number, the one in the winshield and the one in the door, and it came up as a 328iS. But when i looked at the one in the door, it looked like it may have been peeled off and then re-applied.... its all torn and what not, where as on my car, its still in the whole perfect condition.
he got what would appear to be a good deal on a 97 328iS w/ 66,000 miles on it, he payed $13,000, out the door. I dont know, still seems sketcky to me.... but, hey! hes buying my old 328iS 16's from me tonight! i just made a quick $260.....

The 328is you were looking at just didn't have the Sport Package. The standard wheels were 15 inch. Sounds like a good deal, I paid $13,500 for mine with 69K miles with Sport package

My previous 328is did not have a sunroof - it is an option.

BMWs without a sunroof are worth quite a bit less. Much harder to sell - I probably lost 1.5k when I sold my 328is because it did not have a sunroof.
