2000 Bmw 328I v.s 1996 328is

hey guys one of my friends just got a 2000 328i auto, stock, and my car is a 96 328is 5sp, with CAI, and catback exhaust. How would these cars compare in 0-60 times, and 1/4 times? I am going to post a poll for you to vote.

Best way to find out is: Do you have a local drag strip? If so, they will most likely have a "test and tune" evening or day. Such as a Friday and/or Saturday. You pay $25 and make as many runs as you can fit in.

I did this in Canada (it was my first time at a drag strip). What a blast. Found out real quick that if i was to manually shift my auto, i needed a T-bar or such in front of the shifter to stop me blowing thru to 4th. Also, i continually failed to keep my foot down thru the 1/4 mile. Just seemed awfully long to me then. I won't be making that mistake again. By the by the drag strip has a surface that is extremely sticky. Unlike the streets that are slick in comparison.

hey!!!! just raced a 2000 328ci auto with my 96 328i auto and beat him by about 2 car lengths!!!! his was all stock, and this is what i have...

Yes, but they make the same hp. The double vanos makes its torque sooner, I think. The modified 1996 328is manual would win.

How much HP do you think you have with your current upgrades? I want to upgrade my 97 328i with the same stuff you have. Do you feel a BIG difference from stock???

i've not dynoed my car yet, but the power increase is definitely noticeable... sharper throttle, stronger pull, higher rev limiter. and remember, i have an auto!!! personally i think that the higher rev limiter is what got me ahead of the other guy. his car kept shifting just before mine. about 12hundred in upgrades if you're really interested. but remember this though. i get 25 mpg on the highway and 23.5 city. so i'm also making my money back. well,.... if gas prices don't keep kicking our asses that is!!!!
