This is a well documented problem with the X5. It affects both the 8 cylinder and the 6 cylinder trucks.
All you need to do is take it to the service department and tell them about the problem. They will reprogram the computer in the car and you'll be all set!
By the way, it takes about 3 to 4 days to get your car back. Apparently, most dealers don' stock the disks needed to make this particular software update and they need to order the them first. Just a heads up.
