If those prices are correct then I'm so jealous. You guys get a good deal on new car prices over there. The E60 M5 is going to cost 220K in Aussie; and that's not just down to the exchange rate!

I just found this forum since I ordered my M5 last week. The dealership had received an allocation for my car so I was able to order color and options. They thought the MSRP would be about 80K but were not sure about the prices on all the options I ordered but I am sure it added about 8-10K more to the sticker plus gas tax. At least they are selling to me for MSRP.

I put my $100 deposit on the car in April 2001 when I first read about it in Autoweek. The same time when I purchased the dealerships first M3 Convertible.

Well, I'm considering an M5 myself. I have the opportunity to purchase via the military overseas sales department. I can get the car for $73,000 plus options. Looking to put the perf leather seats, ventilated seats, hud, rear sunshade, and rear airbags which brings me in around $80k. Man that's a lot of money for a car. I had previously set a $70k limit on myself for new cars so I'm in quite a pickle here!

oo

If you can really get the car for that price and that is a US legal car then take it. You would be able to probably get 100K in the states for it.

I didnt' know that the dealer's could just take the laws of supply and demand into their own hands and increase the price over the MSRP... For sure there are laws that prevent them from being able to voluntarily increase the price. Im not denying that it happens at all, I just think its absolute crap that they can get away with it. I dont think there is a problem like that in Aus, I know that the dealers get you through adding on sometimes pointless items etc. but I dont think Ive ever experienced one just saying that they were going to charge us extra for the same vehicle. We tend to bargain everything anyway lol, and I mean bargain! It's sort of funny watching the dealer squirm, but that could explain the 'now bad' service, they have our money I guess so now they don't care. [scratch]
