I have three things with my 96 328i that I'm hoping I could get some advice about:

1) Is 5W-40 synthetic oil a good weight for a mild climate (CA)?

2) My car makes a high-pitched squealing noise for the first minute or so after I start it when it's cold. It's not a belt noise. It sounds like a pulley or something not lubricated properly and only happens when the car is cold. Could it be the fan clutch?

3) The driver door lock only works intermittently when you press the remote to lock/unlock the car. The other three door locks work fine. Any ideas what could cause that?

Thanks,

Tom

1. Yes.....perfect grade for CA

2. Normal, probably belt noise even though you do not think so, leave it alone, if you are paranoid....belt dressing will help.....just let it go.

3. Door solinoid......my thoughts....just leave it alone unless you have money to play with.

Hope this helps.[;)]
