can anyone explain how these work? looking at mine, in the right pipe, you can kinda see a little metal disk. i heard that the disc starts spinning after a certain amount of RPM giving the car more torque. (i cant remember exactly what i was told).

my question is, if i were to get an aftermarket exhaust, would there be any point? i dont know if any of the aftermarkets have those metal discs so would i get much gain in hp?

it's a baffle used it keep it quite at idle and give more torque.once you hit a certain rpm it will open up.(no spinning)...the aftermarkets dont use it....if u get an aftermarket ehaust plug the line that goes into it...it's a vaccum and you dont want anything sucked into it!

so would it be wise to leave the stock muffler alone (since its giving torque) and think about upgrading the other parts of the exhaust?

Hey Guys

I was told that baffle also helps the engine to warm up quicker when it's cold out. I have replaced my cats w/ Dynomax racing pieces and the exhaust is louder w/ a bit of a crackle during engine braking. I love it!!!
