540i fuel gauge

Guys,

my 2000 540i sport fuel gauge is acting funny. IT doesnt show the right amount of fuel, the other day, car was drained out completely and the gauge showed that quarter amount of fuel still left!

any idea how i can fix this prob????

or is there any other way of finding out wen i hit reserve fuel level???? is there a change in idle rpm wen the reserve fuel is being used?

cant afford to go on with this prob! mite run outta fuel again some day on the road and will be deep !@#!!!!!

Since you're in the middle east, you should stock up your trunk with barrels of dirt-cheap oil.
We can't afford to do that here, otherwise I would!

thats not a very feasible solution, first it wud so much more wt to the car. second, it potentially a very dangerous solution. I wud be toast incase sum1 rear ends my car!!!!

Check/replace fuel sending unit in the trunk. www.realoem.com to find your part number.
