ABS DIY question

My Father-in-Law is attempting to replace the ABS brain module in his 96 e36. Does anybody know where I can find installantion instructions. It looks Plug & Play, but I am concerned if there is a defined series or steps to perform the connection. For example, do you have to disconnect the battery.

Any help pointing me in right direction would help.

The Bentley manual says "ABS repairs should be done by a BMW specialist" as usual, and does not give any info on the module.

But in general, it's always a good idea to disconnect the negative battery cable before changing any electronic components.
