Aftermarket Wheels for 530

I am interested in getting some new wheel for my 2002 530. I really like the wheels that came with the m5 from that same year. They are a polished gumetal and look awesome. I have seen quite a few on eBay and other websites that claims to make the wheels to OEM specifications. I have also read that you can have problems with aftermarket wheels being too heavy and affecting handling, chipping, finish wearing off, etc.

My questions is this: Can any of you validate these claims or what do you reccoemmedn. I want the wheels to look like OEM BMW wheels. I guess I could buy them straight from BMW, bu tI do not know if those wheels are available any more. Whatever info you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to the board bcharlton! Yes, you can still purchase the E39 M5 wheels from the dealer, but they would be very very expensive. You have to watch the after market ones as well. You need to make sure the offsets fit your car too. However, you can find decent after market wheels off Ebay. Go to Tire Rack they have a lot of different choices to choose from. Here is the link:

The cheaper aftermarket wheels should be avoided, but there are numerous wheels out there that are as good or better quality than BMW. Look into Hartage, Momo, AC Schnitzer, Hamann, Mutec, Zender to name a few. I believe Bavarian Motorsports carries a lot of these. The ones to avoid are the ones carried by national chains and are there "store brand". Also the Tire Rack and Discount tire carry some good ones.

I'm looking to get the same wheels. I want to get off my 16's:

and jump to 18's. I want to purchase something like these:

I'm hesitant though because you never know with Ebay. I see these guys, AAA Rims, Inc., selling a bunch of rims (i.e. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7949048457&category=43958) but I'm not sure how good they are.

Anyone know where you can get OEM ones for cheaper than what the dealer offers? Or a good replica set. I checked tire rack and cannot find them on there. Others have pointed me in the direction of PacificBMW.com, but they don't have them either.

If you DO decide to buy them from a BMW dealer, join BMW Car Club of America FIRST. It will cost about $40, and you'll get a 20% discount at many BMW Dealers. On a set of 4 wheels, that pays off.
