Alarm Not Working?

I have a 2007 335i. I noticed the other day the red light on the rear view mirror does not blink (or do anything) when the car is locked. The owner's manual says nothing. Any ideas of what is going on?

Are you sure you have a alarm. I have a red light under the mirror too on my 330i, but if you dont have a alarm system it will not blink.

I guess not. I just sort of assumed that if my wife's $30K Toyota came with an alarm that my $45K BMW would. I will have to look into that a bit.

The alarm is a dealer installed option.

You can have the dealer activate the Clown nose regardless of having an alarm or not. Some dealers will charge a 30 minutes labor fee while others won't.

The alarm is about a $500 option at most dealers.

Or you can order it from Pacific BMW and install it yourself for about half that.
