I just got a 97 318is back from my brother that used to belong to me. I am just wondering if someone can shoot me some links of some aftermarket stuff for these cars. I mean I have two pretty stout camaros so I'm not trying to make this thing super fast but it just feels so slow compared to what I'm used to. I'd more or less like a few appearance things for it such as rims but I need a few replacement body pieces for the front end that my brother messed up. Just let me know what's out there. If there is any sort or performance upgrades for this car I'm all ears. I know of Dinan but they are really damn expensive. Few things I'd like to do is a header and maybe different gears in the rear if that can be changed. Let me know, thanks. Jarred

I really haven't heard of different final drive gears for the car, but I'm sure that they are geared short to begin with. As far as go fast parts, there's not too much you can do. Intake, cams, chip. You won't get a big gain without forced induction.

As for new body parts. I'd try and find a BMW junkyard in your area.
Who makes cams for these cars? I'll look at some of those websites. And how much spray would a stock bottom end handle? I was thinking 100-125 shot maybe? I don't know if it would need tuning though. Let me know.

I'd keep it around 50-75. 100-125 is pushing it on any bottom end. For 75 hp you will probably need to retard the ignition a few degrees. Schrick makes cams. They aren't cheap either and i'm sure you'll need to upgrade the valve springs. Instead of spending all this money on the 4 cyl engine, why not consider a 2.8L 6 cyl swap.

Unfortunately, doing an engine conversion from a 4 to a 6 also costs a lot of money and in many cases more than a forced induction kit once all is done. It'll cost less to sell the four and buy a 6, but requires a lot more effort and patience.
