Does anybody besides me have interior door panels that are falling apart? I've been told this is a common problem on mid-early 90's 3's. New panels from the dealer are 800+!!!!!

Can't find any aftermarket replacements. Little help!

That is a common prob with the 3 series. The vinyl tends to bubble up or fall apart. My recomendation if you are on a tight budget is to either find a crashed BMW yard. pick up the doors there. Or go to your local interior shop and see how much they will charge you to redo the vinyl on your current doors. I dont know were you are at but i have a great place in miami to do them. it should run you about $50.00 per door. but 200 is alot better then 800.[driving]

door panels

i have a 92 325i and i've had that problem occur several times on all 4 doors.

the first time we took the car into the dealer to completely replace the interior panels. this looks really nice but did cost a lot of money ($800 seems about right if memory serves).

the next time i suggested that they just re-adhere the panels using the glue or whatever that they use. this worked / looked nearly identical and only cost about $200.

it's been a few years and its starting to bubble again though.

kind of annoying :/

I also have a '92 325i and my door panels were bubbling up, falling apart, etc and looked TERRIBLE. After looking for months I finally found a guy selling all 4 tan e36 door panels on eBay. They were from a '93 so I was worried about how long they would last but I figured I might as well go for them. After cleaning them and installing them using all new clips and fasteners from bavauto they looked really really nice and so far have stayed together. I dont what kind of panels they were but they were definitly made a little differently than my original ones were. Did BMW ever correct this problem in a later model or is it just dumb luck that I have these good panels?

Dear Drako,

I have the same problem on my E36 convertible where the vinyl is coming off. I reside in Miami, could you provide me with the address or phone for the place that you recommend to get it fixed?

Thanks,

Mencho
