So as i posted in previous threads, my radiator blew.

Sooo...we threw in a new radiator, hoses, and thermostat.

I fired it up today, and the gauge is still climbing to hot.....the radiator is flowing, as well as the thermostat is opening, water pump is fine..... WHAT ELSE CAN IT BE?

Im deathly afraid that i blew the head gasket..but what else could it possibly be?

Did you bleed the system properly? How do you know the water pump is OK - did you remove it and check it?

Read this article - Take the time to read it and understand your cooling system. The bleed directions are at the end of the article.

http://www.pelicanparts.com/BMW/techarticles/E36-Coolant_Flush/E36-Coolant-Flush.htm

When you do this, the car must be level, or preferably raised (pointed up hill) so that the bleed screw is the highest point in the system. This will help to bleed out bubbles. Also, turn the heater ON to the hottest setting.

THe overheating doesn't mean you necessarily blew the head gasket. If you don't have water in the oil, the overheating is not caused by a blown head gasket. But you DO have air in the system. or NO water flow to the head.

Tomarrow ill check under the oil cap for water contaminants.

After that ill drain the system and refill it with the top end raised 39 inches (what i read in a previous article). Then ill continue with the instructions in the pelican article.

I dont think the water pump is busted, it didnt seem to have a problem before. however, i do have new high performance water pump that i was going to put in, but i was waiting to buy a new fan clutch as well.
