thanks for nothing.

i wanted to hear from people who have put an m3 kit (or hamann kit, or whatever) on an older e36 to get rid of those ugly gray skirts and bumpers.

if, in your opinion, that is somehow "anti-bwm" then you are entitled to it.

i didn't ask for your opinion, so next time don't waste my time.

and you're telling me this car is somehow ugly?

Most people paint the gray/black parts to match the body, and it really doesnt look to bad. It's a really common thing and you honestly cant see the difference.

I would NOT go with the body kit!!!! Body kits are just stupid, and always crack and stuff.. not worth the money (you could buy a 96+ e36 and get a 1-tone body for the cost of your car + body kit)

Hey Polar..........it depends where you get your body kit from if it is primed or if they offer painting services. At all costs try and go with OEM kits or at least plastic..........I wouldn't wanna use fiberglass, because it is a little frail. But that Hamann kit looks awsome I would def. rock that on my car. And Hamann kits are ABS plastic too. [:)] So go for it dude. I would recomend a professional install and painting. Nothing looks worse than a half ass job on a Bimmer. ABS plastic is the best way to go, it is the same material as the factory OEM bumpers, so it is more durable than fiberglass which is very weak.........and depending on how you treat might crack or chip/flake apart. The ABS plastic is also easier to paint. Hamann kits are excellent......a little pricy but very nice construction and quality. Check out the OEM ones too. BMW wouldn't have used it on its own cars for so many years if they didn't have faith in it. If I knew you were in the market for an M3 style I could have sold you a used M3 front bumber but it's gone now............Well have fun with it..........see if you can find Hamann's M3 GTR kit It looks so nice (it was the kit on the black M3 in too fast too furious). I don't know tho people might give you a hrad time if you had that kit and no wild engine upgrades. It looks sweet tho.

epj3............Body kits aren't stupid. As long as you don't go wild and put some alien kit on, than your fine. And no they don't ALL break and crack.

Personally I like some of the European widebody kits.......they are pretty rare. Other than that, I like my stock body kit. I am not a fan for big wings though.[;)]

It depends on what you wanna do. If you're gonna put one of those ugly cheap-ass body kits commonly found on Civics, then you might as well do your BMW a favor and run it through a brick wall. I can understand if you want to add some minor changes, but if you want to do some severe changes that only harm performance and make your car a moving disgrace, ask elsewhere.

My only suggestion is buying E36 M3 parts from BMW and getting them professionally installed.

Are you telling me this car isn't somehow ugly?

That pic you added Polar isnt bad at all, if your thinking about doing that, it's done pretty well. If you're aiming for that, make sure you dont go cheap and buy some autozone-quality crap. I would not put a wing on though, if you put a wing on, I will insist on taking it off with my 12v cordless screwdriver (as a favor for you [}:)])

epj3.... you are being just damn ridicules. Some body kits look terrible no doubt but others can look good if it’s not too gaudy. You don't even know what he was shooting for and immediately said DON'T DO THAT, YOU UNTASTEFUL IDIOT!!!!

Why don't you give it a chance, maybe try to help out or at least try to see what he was talking about before you slam the dang idea. Holy cow!

Besides if he did put a ridicules body kit on and it looked terrible, it would only make yours look better. It wouldn't be a disgrace to BMW and you don't have to take it to heart, it just makes the person who put it on look bad.

Cordless screwdriver...... not funny. Especially since you wouldn't even be able to take it off with a screwdriver.....

About that "wing," I actually think that those smaller ones are quite tasteful. The only ones which I have a problem with are the literal wings which will make car airborne if taken over 110. Now that shit should come off a BMW really quickly. but I think that polar has a good head on his shoulders and will create a kickass machine to make all of us BMW lovers envious.

I really enjoy the wings on the E36 M3s. I think those are pretty well done and not too flashy. Also, to help you out some, most body kits I've seen (like off Bav Auto) come ready to be painted, but not painted. I've also heard, though never done it myself, that they're relatively easy to install. It just takes a little bit of time and some tricky drilling.

First, I didn't quote you, I made an interpretation.

but, if it was a "misquote" then i would say you are welcome.

Your second post hardly makes up for the first.

Screwdriver part again..... not necessary.

Smiley.... not necessary.
