burnt leaves smell...ac??

Does anyone know why I would get a burnt leave smell after the air conditioning is turned on for a while? Someone suggested replacing the cabin filter...I have a 1993 525it wagon and where would I find instructions on how to replace this filter?

Debris can fall in from the front cowl vent area onto the Heating / AC blower resistor. This could be a hazard so I'd recommend keeping the cowl area clean and pull the resistor out to clean out inside.
