Can the ATC ABS sensitivity be adjusted?

My ABS kicks in sometimes when I brake on a rough road and the other day right after the abs kicked in at a light I then tried accelerating and the ATC kicked in. Its only happened this one time about a week ago and I've put some miles on the car since. Bud of mine said that my wheel sensor might have had some dust or dirt on it which caused this to happen. I was thinking that maybe the "sensitivity" either on the throttle body or wheel sensor needs to be adjusted-is this possible?

Sounds like it is working pretty much as designed. I have also seen this on both of my cars once or twice. There really are no adjustments. The wheel pickup works on a magnetic field principle, only dirt laced with alot of metal would affect it. The only way to adjust the ABS would be to change the software.

The Traction Control uses the same wheel sensors. When it detects, spin, the computer retards the timing, and closes an auxilary throttle plate to reduce air flow, slowing the engine. The computer controls and monitors this, so again, the only possible adjustment would be software.

You can always just turn off traction control by pushing the button on the console.

I'm with you on that. That's a more frequent complaint with all the electronic gizmos - disconnecting the driver from the car. My opinion is - Just because you CAN automate something doesn't mean you SHOULD.

I second that! I turn the traction control off all the time. Especially in the winter. If I don't you feel like the car is stuck in a rut and doesn't feel like accelerating. I know how to drive and how to accelerate with out spinning the tires and if it does then I want to know what is happening so I can adjust. Not to mention it chews up the rear brakes! Discs and pads are expensive every spring!!
