Censorship - didn't just cross the line...

Absolutely rediculious IMO. So I guess it's now a crime to SOUND naked? I'm not talking about the rest of their show - I have never listened to it, but unless they were swearing or it ended up sounding like porn over the air, how is it a problem? I'm anxious for them to start trying to censor the internet

Screw censorship. I should be able to say or show whatever I want on tv, radio, books, etc.. If people don't want to hear it or see it, then they don't have to.

I agree. If this country wants to call itself a FREE country, then I should be able to CHOOSE what i hear and see. I think we need some censorship so stuff isn't FORCED to people, but if I don't want to see and hear it, then I'll change the station.

this is where opinions collide a lot. if it was as graphic as the short article says it was, with graphic interviews with things that children don't need to hear, then i can see where they could/would impose a fine....but that can be debated.

as far as using the whole phrase "if this was really a free country".....just please dont unless you support anarchy. if you intend to use "really free" in any situation in any country, you'd have to use it in every situation...thus being an anarchist. we use the term "free" with stipulations that i think are obvious for obvious reasons.

How is that anarchy?? We're talking about something you have a CHOICE to hear or see. Its time for PARENTS to take responsibility. They need to raise their children to be able to make their own decisions on whats right and wrong. Parents use the media to baby sit their children, and thats why there is a huge problem.

If you don't want to hear it... it's MORE than easy to switch stations. Again, as long as its not being forced onto people (like a commercial in the middle of a family show), I still don't see the problem. I think it's weird how they censor the word "hole" but not "ass"

By the way, many other countries have much less strict censorship, and its not like their kids are exactly growing up to be these wild uncontrollable animals. Our culture is LAZY and that is what brings about this extreme censorship.

The guy in charge of the FCC is a moron, so hopefully he'll be out of there in a few years when powell is done (wish my daddy could help me get a job!!)

The way the Supreme Court splits it (and I agree this is a good distinction) is that on public media (radio, tv, etc), you have to be more strict. That's cuz a kid can be flipping through and stumple across it. On cable, XM/Sirius, etc, you pay so you voluntarily agree beforehand to get into this region. So, since you're paying specifically to get access to these channels, you made a choice to go there so the stations have more leeway as to what they do b/c you can make the choice to go back to "public" media or whatnot.

i am not arguing with the topic. what i am saying is be careful how you use that phrase "if we were really a free country"....it's too vague. if you say we should have the choice in anything, it would be everything, without rules. someone will ALWAYS disagree with the way things are, in fact thousands, not just a few. we can never as a society reach a middle point, nothings ever good enough.
