Probably software piracy. You've seen those ads for Windows for $5, right? Same deal. The guy got his hands on somebody's chip, put it in a chip programmer, downloaded the code, and now burns his own chips and sells them.

Hehe, it should, assuming he copied it correctly and didn't intentionally sabotage, kinda like a virus, it to be a prick. If he did, well, as ///M Speed said ....... "POOF"

It's tempting, I would like to chip my 325, but I'm not sure I want to take that risk.

What that is I bleieve is just a resistor to tell the computer that colder air is coming in. It's a fraud... you get what you pay for. If anything your car will run rich and might mess up your O2 sensors and your catalayic converters...

Yeah, it can't be a "chip," because OBDII isn't "chippable" since they don't use removable PROMs. To update the PCM software, you have to have a device to basically reflash the PCM software.

Really? And here I thought this guy was a scumbag software pirate, and he's really just a lowlife scam artist.

Good point about the OBDI/II software. I was thinking about the E36 325 w/OBDI and forgot that the OBDII was flashable.
