clock & radio/cd detail too dim

Does anyone know how to increase the brightness on the clock and the radio/cd display? I have already tried the dashboard dimmer/brightener dial. Both used to be bright enough, but they have dimmed since I bought the car in 2001 and the light switch/dimmer just doesn't make the clock bright enough to see. The CD detail is pretty difficult to read too.

for the clock, you can try changing the bulbs...for the radio, cant help ya, never had the OE deck.

Thanks Manuel. For some reason I thought the lighting was liquid crystal. Hopefully it is a simple fix.

If your radio display is too dim, you've encountered a very common problem with E36 radio's, and the cost to fix would be more than the cost of a new OEM radio... according to a local dealer. I've decided just to upgrade to an Alpine 9813.

The for the info. Did the local dealer give you a price on replacing the OEM radio? If so, what was it.

khill- I didn't get an exact estimate but your local dealer should be able to give you that. Sorry I'm of no better help
