My onboard computer is displaying check coolant level . Flashes three times at start up and shut down. I overhauled the cooling system completly. I t is full of coolant. When the the tank was empty , I did move it a few feet. It may have picked the code then. My OBDII will not remove the code or show it. What will? Qr is my sensor at the tank bad? The coolant sensor does not connect to the OBD. As far as I know it is just connected to the status display system, which is not a direct part of the the OBD system. So there will be no code thrown.

You have a problem with either the sensor or the wiring. As I recall, the float on the sensor completes the electrical circuit, indicating level is OK. Since yours is full, I think the circuit is open, meaning:
- a broken wire
- connector is not plugged in tightly
- the floating ring is stuck down, not completing the circuit

Did you remove the sensor from the bottom of the expansion tank when you did the overhaul?

thaks conehead for the reply. no i did not remove the expansion tank sensor when doing my repairs. i must use tape to hold the connector to the sensor. if the problem solved , will the warning light go out or must it be cleared?

could this possibly cause the car to dump coolant because the fault code? The wire has been broken off my sensor for as long as I can remember and I just failed to replace it. My car has been taking me for a ride overheating for a while now and I want to rule out everything possible.

if the wire is broken why not repair it. dumping coolant, replace your thremostat and have your radiator rodded out. i have done all of this to mine. plus replace all the hoses. i don't think anything is wrong with cooling system . might need to replace the tank sensor and some how get the light off. then i will start on why is the air bag light on. you must forgive me people i have only this car about four weeks. HAPPY 4th, barron

No, the message on the computer would not cause it to dump coolant. It's the other way around - you are loosing coolant due to a leak, and therefore the message comes on.
