Is there anyone out there that can help me out. My local BMW guy has told me that my 92 325i had an old dealer fix for poor idle. It involved retarding the intake camshaft 4 degrees. I have been told that the Conforti chip (which I have), fixes the idle problem, and has suggested that I have the camshaft "reset" the 4 degrees. There are absolutely no performance issues with the car, it runs fine. HELP...I would appreciate any feedback out there. I understand a little more advance will perk the car up somewhat, and I want it to run as well as its capable of...thanks all

Im guessing he has the idle problem, is it sort of a rough idle when stopped?

Mine does the same thing...and I've really never found a solution for it...but then again I never tried to reset my cam...

I never thought of contacting the conforti people Big Daddy. Just to be clear, I have never experienced this idle problem, so I am making an assumption that it was taken care of by the cam being retarded 4 degrees..I'm not too sure its a real, or contrived thing. That is kinda why I was wondering if there was any history out there of it being done...

Just to clarify what cams are these? I would contact conforti. The major thing about cams in a e36 non-M is the always present rough idle. It's defintely expected. One good way to reduce it (and something you sholdve done anyways) was to get software remapped. Going by what information you have, i'd actually contact www.turnermotorsport.com. They have an awesome selection and awesome customer service. They should have a chipped already burned for your specific setup. If not give them the specs and im sure they can get you th ebest thing.

I'm sorry to have mislead anyone...THERE isn't an idle problem. I was going on the premise that the BMW "fix" for the original idle problem was a camshaft timing change by the dealer. I was just asking if anyone could remember if this was a fact, or just crappo from the dealer. If in fact it was a fix waaaaaay back then, I was going to have it reversed to help with the performance a little...
