Hey,

My automatic locks dont work on my 96 328. My machanic recently replaced the window regulator and right when I got it back the locks didn't work. He said that the driver door has nothing to do with the locks. Is there any hoses in there that could be disconnected which keeps my locks from working? I think he disconnected a hose in the drivers door which keeps my locks from working but I am not sure. Please let me know if my theory is right.

Thanks

Now I don't actualy know about the connection between the doors and the locks but man, for it to stop working right after you get it back from the shop... for sure they did someting!

Just because they don't know what they did doesn't mean they are not responsible!

This mechanic tried to figure out what was wrong with my locks and only succeeded in disabling one of the security features. The car now starts even when the driver's door is open.

Don't know whats worse, messing with wires you don't know about yourself or letting a mechanic mess with them who probably doesn't know a lot more, plus, doesn't care as much about the car.

meh, not really. Got a little tired with all this stuff that is going on now, no time to have any fun and no money to get a new tranny.

Thats not what I meant. I wasn't going agaisnt you for having it fixed by a mechanic, I was just saying that mechanics generally don't care about the car while we, the owners, do. I was only supporting you, sorry for the misunderstanding.

Sounds as if he failed to reconnect the lock accuator. Pop the panel and look for any loose plugs. It's not difficult and your mechanic is just too proud (or not professional enough) to recognized he may have goofed. If he failed to connect the electrical, with the moon roof open, try turning the key (in the door lock) fully right for five seconds. the windows and moon roof should close if the wiring is all hooked up. If they don't, you do have a disconnected wiring harness.

I wish they did that in the 325 also. My windows close but not the sunroof, its so annoying when I have to actually get in the car and close it.

There is also a connection under the driver's seat (all the way under the carpet, mounted to the frame), I doubt he messed with that but if everything else fails, you might have to check that out.
