Hey,
Im thinking about buying a dinan preformance chip for my 94 325i, the only think im conserned about is the engine, the chip makes if go 7000rpm which for sure uses it more cruzing around the normal range another thing im just wondering, they say you can get better gas milage with it, is that true?

i got 35mpg doing 90 on the highway, with mine and yes it limits you to 7000rpm, which is nice cause most make thier power at around 35-4500rpm up to 6500rpm so with the 7k rpm limiter you get more out of your engine.

Hello

bmwperson let me tell you something.

The Dinan chip is perfect but it does not rases your rev limiter up to 7000.

It only rases by 250 above the stock. 1994 325i has maximum of 6250 RPM, with the chip you will get 6500 RPM.

I have a stage 3 Dinan Chip and plus i have special software called V-Max modul. (Can only get in Europe) Which ads up 10 more horses and rases the top speed up to 160MPH.

Supercharded 325i has top of 6750 RPMs so How can a Stock 325i with chip have 7000 RPM limit?!

Dinan has made big mistakes in numbers!!![fake] [:(!]

And your milage will actually improve with the chip![thumb]

go with the conforti software from turnermotorsports.com. the increase in power is felt throughout the powerband. dinan chips reach top hp at around 5800-6500 rpms. the conforti software can also increase mileage. i have the conforti and can't be happier with the gains!!!!

PS will i feel the difference in the shifting, accel my tranny is auto *auch* Im thinking about converting it, but thats in a little bit ( maybe after the winter ), anyone knows the times for 0-60 with the chip and without?

i've got a 96 328 auto and can say that my car shifts much much smoother. the car just seems to seamlessly go through the gears. here's the kicker though.... it has 100k miles on it!!! go conforti!!!! turnermotorsports.com has dyno graphs of the chip installed. as for 0-60, my car's supposed to do it in 7.1 secs or something, but now i've got it down to 6 flat. granted i do have a cai and exhaust also, but i still think the chip brought all my components together.

I prefer the Dinan Chip, that may be due to the fact I have one in my car....BUT if you have a auto transmission you should/need to get a transmission chip from dinan as well, that will improve the acc. in your car as well....whatever kind of chip you get get a transmission chip to go with it

I dont see any conforti tranny chips, do i need 2 chips then or just one is gonna do the trick? dinan has a seperate one for the engine and another one for the tranny. Its still alot of money, Im actualy thinking of putting a M3 engine, tranny in my car ;>>>

well if you put the engine in your car forget about the chip mods....the M3 engine is expensive stuff....the labor is about 40 hours and you need an additional 3000 in equipment to go with it, example being a new exhaust, throttle body and so on...there is no single chip that does both jobs, you have to get the engine chip and the tranny chip sep. it isint cheap but then again just about nothing is when working on our cars

Dinan

MVPBird33 is right. You are not thinking like many people out there. It is not worth to transplant an M3 engine in to your car.

Dinan Chip is the best and not any conforti![mad]

You have to get a engine managment chip and also transmission chip to make the car shift faster and smother.

I will recomend you something.

BMP sell a multithrottle intake system for $2600 that will give you around 40 more hp.

In combination with chips and exhaust you can have your 325i at about 255hp and its definetly cheaper to change it than the engine.[thumb]

Id do it myself, its possible to buy the engine/tranny/brain for $4k with 50k-60k. That would be a big project ;> but its worth it. I would also change the tranny to manual while I would be there.

hmm, now im confused. Maybe i should just give it up and leave the car alone how it is. It drives, when it will start to fall apart ( not soon, i have 60k only ) Ill invest some more money, or ill sell her and buy a M3

added: the thing is, I dont race, almost at all but sometimes you just have too [rofl] [mad] and manual tranny would be perfect + some mods. I bought my car for 6k 94 325i with 60k on her, its automatic, it would be probably cheaper tho to sell the car and buy a manual one. Agh it confusing...

best thing to do for your money, buy the DINAN engine/tranny chip 300 each and call it game....I would not rec. swaping out the engine especially if you were the one to do the labor...it takes a mech. 40 hours so imagine how long it would take someone that doesnt have the right equipment and experience, your car would be out for weeks. you will get what you need out of the chips and wont be dissapionted
