Ok. I am set on getting DINAN exhaust since it is considered the best.

Do you think it would be too load on a convertible?

Also, my dealer quoted $1000 out the door price for labor/parts. Exhaust itself was like $770. They will not install any aftermarket exhaust or one I buy myself.

Should I go with this deal or buy my own one somewhere cheap (eBay, for instance) and install it at some shop somewhere?

What would be best?

Go with Eisenmann or Remus! They go for $600 and are a lot better quality and sound much better. You can have a muffler shop install the system for you for ~$100-150 tops with 1 year warranty on labor.

With Eisenmann you can customize the tips/sound/finsish.

Listened to some sounds this exhaust on a BMW at remus.at .... I was amazed!

How much HP should I expect to gain from this?

Dealership said the the reason why they do not install aftermarket exhausts is due to the fact that they can melt the rear bumper...... any trueth in that?

BS! They don't want to install is because they are tied in with Dinan. We have dealers like that in the area.

If the muffler is installed correctly, it will not melt the bumper. Any exhaust can melt the bumper, even stock, if mounted incorrectly.

You will probably gain 5-8hp tops, as the 330's already have pretty much a free-flow exhaust. The sound will be "something else" though.

Since original exhaust is almost free-flow... shouldn't the sound difference be minor?

Sound is affected by the resonator/muffler design. It's the way the air flows within them that creates different sound. OEM exhaust for instance uses a baffle in one of the pipes to reduce drone at highway speeds. But at WOT, the exhaust flows free, well, as much as the design allows.

Even if you put straight pipes, if they are slightly different the sound will vary. The flow will also change, but not too significantly to really affect the HP numbers.

Wow, you all seem to know a lot... from the looks of it you suggest remus, ... what about this... as this guy said ebay is cheaper, and ive asked around and i heard that if you buy ebay and its cheap its most likely a fake ... how you fake it i dunno, but i heard that ... i wanted to buy a remus for 200.00 i saw there but my friend who works for a car shop here in miami said i could go for it but it was a risk... so ya... no exhaust... just dreams of an exhaust... and still no ideas for car fixes... [bmwkick]

Thats why I bought an official 330CiC REMUS exhaust from bavauto.com for $555 and not some genetic one even if it a hundred less. I feel much more secure in getting it from a manufacturer that lives BMWs. It could cost so much more.... time, car damage, money,... if you go otherwise

If I sound stupid that is because I just painted the basement wall with my sister and some drug-induced paint had totally trashed... I am still under this "high" feeling.... since I was never high in my life this is probably is far as I would go with my nugget.

anyway yes, thank you for the welcome... these exhausts seem to be over 500, i dont have that .... yet... but has anyone painted the pinstripe on the car? or know how much it costs? my uncle did it, came out professional looking... but he used spray paint... wouldnt do that to my car...

or what else should i do with 400 dollars? ... off topic... ill post my own board.. lol..

Stripe is not too bad... but do not "Too Fast Too Furious" you car... nonono.

If I was your mother.. I would tell you to invest $400 in your education ..
But since you came to the board.. do something that you feel will make you feel better.

Personally, I do not want to MOD my car too much since I will give it to my SIS when she gets her license.... I will settle for an M3 Cabrio... but if things catch-up Ferrari or may I say.. Lamborghini

Lol, ya i know ricers are bad, but no i meant well my car is silver, i want to paint the black pin strip silver colored to match my car, i dont think thats ricy, personally i like it but it may be just me, and invest in education?!?! psshhh, i have work for that. lol this is personal spending money, i was thinking of an exhaust, or a sound system or just the manefacturers alarm if all else fails....
