somehow, even though i park so far away from everyone, i managed to get a good size ding on the driver side door. i am quite mad about it and i feel it makes my car look horrible. its the only thing that i look at now when im lookin at my car. whats the best way of avoiding these and also gettin rid of it?

As for removing them, look in your yellow pages for paintless dent repair, dent wizard or some combination like that. These guys can pop it out with no problem.

I think if you take two spots, it will intimidate other drivers more. And, the chance to get another ding would be bigger.
I say try to park at the end of the row, and try to give extra space between cars.
Or, if you find a spot that is wide, take it. This will give you a space.

dont take up two parking places .... ive seen people go out of their way to key, etc. nice cars that take up more than one place
just use common sense ... dont park really really close to people ... park towards the back ... and watch (if no other option) who you you park next to
not being pretenious or anything im just saying that 1988 honda w/ rust is going to care less about knocking their door into a car vs someone with a newer car

About the repair. Don't take it to a "dent wizard." O personally know a dent guy and he says in all honesty that if you take it some place you should be able to sit and watch them fix one or two dents.
He also says that most "dent wizards" drill holes in your inside door panel (even the places that says they don't drill) and then if your lucky they plug'm with silicon and a plastic bit.
Holes at times are necessary because of a location but they shouldn't always be used. Find a dent guy who is respected and then asked if you can view at least some of the repair.
