I bought my 92 318is a few months ago and since then the door mechanisms have been a bit... german. You basically have to pull up, hard, then out, to open the doors, both sides. It's a coupe, so there're only two of course. Has anyone had similar experience or have tips on fixing?

try adjusting the little contraption thats on the body of the car, the place where the door latches on to...there should be 2 inverted torx(i think thats the name) bolts holding it on...ill have a picture later today.

first try spraying some wd-40 on there and see if it helps...if it doesn't then use this to help you out...

loosen the bolts in red and then slightly move everything, retighten the bolts and close the door...btw, thats a pic of the passenger side.

I had that with my door, I thought something was wrong with it so I went to the dealer, they just sprayed some stuff on the handle and it was much better [:D]

if that doesnt work, pop off your door panel and re-adjust the latch mechanism. You might not be completely disengaging it, causing you to need to "lift" the door open.

I'm pretty sure that kev415 had the right idea, and I'll try to do this tomorrow. Thanks a lot, and I'll post the results.
