Hi there,

I have a 98 328is. I noticed a "minor" problem in my automatic windows. It happens on both the driver's side and passenger side. When I depress the rocker switch all the way in order for the windows to roll up automatically sometimes the windows will start going up, then it'll stop, go down 1/4 inch then go back up that 1/4 inch and stay there, then i have to press the button again to roll up the windows. Anyone else have this kind of problem or know how to fix it? Nothing major, but it's kind of annoying sometimes.... Thanks!

Had the exact same problem with my 318Is; took it to the dealer...there exact words were that I was not pressing the button firmly. They said that when you use the auto to roll the windows up, you have to press the button firmly, b/c it will will make a click sound and that's how you know it's activated. They said that what's happening is you're only engaging the auto half way and then the switch thinks the door is open and it drops the window the exact amount that it does when you open the door. I press the button firmly now and I've never had the problem since. Good Luck. Sean

Thanks Sean, I will try this. Yes, it drops the window just by the amount that it does when you open the door, so I will press the button firmly and let ya know. Thanks again!

If you have to press it really hard, maybe your switch is getting a bit too worn out. Try replacing it; you can usually find a cheap one on ebay. Good luck man.

Selavia,

I tried what you suggested and it's been working so far, so I just push it a little harder than I used to and it seems to work. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself by writing that and when I try it tonight, it won't work! Anyway, thanks much for the tip!
